Unsolicited Idea Submission Policy

As a leader in applying science to life to provide innovative products and technologies to our customers, 3M actively pursues open innovation opportunities with business partners. We also welcome customer comments regarding 3M products and services. However, 3M has a policy that does not allow 3M or its employees to accept on a confidential basis, or to agree to hold in confidence, any unsolicited ideas, suggestions, proposals, product concepts, and the like. In addition, 3M cannot agree to provide any compensation for any such unsolicited submissions. This policy is intended to avoid any misunderstandings if 3M decides to use customer suggestions or ideas to improve its products or services, or if new 3M products or services developed independently by 3M include features or improvements that were also suggested by a customer. Due to the volume of unsolicited customer ideas we receive, 3M hopes you can understand that we cannot acknowledge or respond to each, so although your submission is appreciated, you may not hear back from 3M.

If you choose to submit an unsolicited idea or other information to 3M, then by making the submission, you agree that the following terms apply, regardless of any contrary statements accompanying your submission.

Terms
1. Acceptance of your submission imposes no obligations on 3M, and in particular:
  
  3M has no obligation to acknowledge or review your submission, or otherwise respond to you in any way regarding your submission,
  
  3M has no obligation to keep your submission confidential, and may publish or otherwise publicly disclose your submission in any existing or later developed media;
2. Your submission and its contents automatically become the property of 3M, without any compensation of any kind owed to you;
3. 3M may use or redistribute your submission and its contents for any purpose and in any way, including but not limited to using it in new 3M products or services, or to improve existing 3M products or services;
4. You are authorized to make the submission, and that your submission does not include the confidential information, proprietary know-how, trade secrets, or other intellectual property of any other person or party.
