Scotch® Tape 23 is a 30 mil, premium grade, highly conformable, rubber splicing tape. The self fusing tape has a special polyester liner, which will not stick to the tape upon unwind. It withstands temperatures up to 194 °F (90 °C).

I have been using this since about 1980. I could not find it one time, but the store had a different brand. I assumed that they were all the same, but it was junk! After a year or two in the sun, the Brand X had fallen apart! This lasts for many years, but better if you over coat it with Scotch® Super 33+ Vinyl Electrical Tape, which also is an accept no substitutes product! Brand X will fail!
Then, coat it with Scotchkote™ Electrical Coating FD, in brush-top 15-oz. can

It sticks to itself and not much else!
Got the .75 inch through our company supply and it has a good stretch and sticks to itself very securely. Also once the end is wrapped it stays in place without additional standard electrical tape.
