The 3M™ Enrichment Pouch with 225 mL Buffered Peptone Water Broth is a heavyweight, puncture resistant pouch, ideal for many sample preparation and enrichment procedures.

Pouch includes an inner filter that effectively strains particulate to minimize clogging of the sampling pipette, making it ideal for sample preparation and enrichment. The filter section of the pouch is made of durable, perforated polyethylene film. The longer filter length provides filtering for the entire length of the pouch during the enrichment and mixing process. Designed to meet stringent laboratory testing needs, the pouch has the strength needed to endure sample preparation and handling. Pre-measured with 225 mL of enrichment broth, the pouch is ready to use with no mixing required. Just add the sample, homogenize to mix, then place directly into the incubator. The broth and pouch are decontaminated through gamma irradiation to maintain organism viability and long shelf life. The flat bottom allows the pouch to stand on its own and heavy gage wire closure holds the pouch open, allowing the technician to work with both hands. Once the desired sample has been added, the open top is folded over itself and the wire tie bent over the fold to seal. The multi-layer pouch is strong enough to use with a paddle blender to effectively mix the sample with the enrichment solution. This product is made in the USA with globally sourced materials and is ISO 9001:2008 certified for quality assurance. It is intended for lab use only.

Buffered Peptone Water Broth is used as a diluent or for non selective enrichment of microorganisms such as Salmonella species or E. coli from foods and environmental samples prior to selective enrichment and isolation. Microorganisms that may be present in a food product can be sub-lethally injured by food processing techniques and may not be recovered by direct selection techniques. Buffered Peptone Water Broth promotes the recovery of those microorganisms that may be injured.
