Thin Printable Repulpable Single Coated Splicing Tape 9969B is an ultra-thin, printable/coatable cover tape which bonds to coated and uncoated grades of paper. Strong kraft bleached paper backing maintains splice integrity through coaters. Repulpable (TAPPI UM-213) adhesive prevents broke contamination from non-repulpable splice material.
3M™ Repulpable Single-Coated Printable Splicing Tapes are one-side coated paper with clear, repulpable adhesive on an easy release paper liner
Thin and Strong for a Range of Papers and Conditions
3M™ Thin Printable Repulpable Single Coated Splicing Tape 9969B has an ultra-thin caliper (2.2 mil) making it a very good option for covering overlap splices as the splice travels through the coater or nip rollers. The strong kraft bleached paper backing of the 9969B also accepts inks and coatings and can be used in a range of applications. This tape holds up under temperatures as high as 350°F (176.6°C) for short periods.
Thin Printable Repulpable Single Coated Splicing Tape 9969B is a blue version of our 9969 tape. It is also available in a split-liner (SL) version which is ideal for butt splicing.
- Covering overlap splices
- Core starting and tabbing
- Roll closing
- Zero speed splicing at the sheeter
- Tape leading or trailing edge
- Hole patching
- Envelope processing
- Butt splicing where thin splices are required (specify split-liner version)
The tape and the 2.9 mil paper easy release liner of 3M™ Thin Printable Repulpable Single Coated Splicing Tape 9969B are completely repulpable, meaning there is no need to remove splices from waste. Water dispersability eliminates the danger of contaminating the paper mill with non-repulpable material. This feature can help save labor costs and increase the value of waste paper. All components of the adhesive and backing meet or exceed TAPPI UM-213, meaning it meets the requirements of indirect food additive regulations as described under 21 CFR 176.170 (components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty food).
Strength and Performance
Our repulpable tapes have the shear strength to stand up under high web tension. That means less potential incidence of splice slippage; less chance of exposed adhesive; and less risk of web breakage caused by "blocking". Our tapes match shear strength with excellent peel strength. Their adhesive power and heat resistance can help keep your webs moving smoothly while helping to reduce splice failures and costly re-splicing.
