Pinch or Squeeze Flexible Container for Precise Application
Our 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Rubber Toughened Instant Adhesive RT5000B is a glue that is easily applied with a thin bond line from a squeeze bottle and cures quickly. This cyanoacrylate adhesive (PDF, 416 Kb) is dispensed from a flexible container; pinch a precise drop or squeeze for a steady bead.

Recommended Applications

  • Speaker assembly
  • Plastics and Rubbers
  • Gap Filling
  • Small Joint assembly
Creates a Strong, Durable, Long-Lasting Bond
Once applied, 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Rubber Toughened RT5000B typically reaches handling strength in under 40 seconds, with a full cure achieved in 24 hours. This keeps jobs moving quickly and may help improve workplace productivity. Once a full cure is achieved, the glue achieves a strong, durable and lasting bond, with overlap shear strength over 2,000psi.

Rubber Toughened Instant Adhesives
Our 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Rubber Toughened Instant Adhesives are designed to give exceptional performance for applications requiring improved flexibility, shock, vibration, impact or toughness. This adhesive may be used to bond to plastics, metals, rubbers and composite materials.

Understanding Instant Adhesives
Instant adhesives are cyanoacrylate based formulas that are strong, fast-acting glues used in industrial and household applications. In general, they are an acrylic resin that rapidly polymerizes in the presence of moisture, forming long, strong chains, joining the bonded surfaces together.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives should be applied thinly, with pressure put on the bond for a few seconds, to ensure that the reaction proceeds rapidly and a strong bond is formed within a reasonable time.

3M instant adhesives apply right from the container and rapidly reach handling strength at room temperature. Commonly referred to as a super hold glue, a single drop per square inch can bond many plastics, rubbers, metals, wood and more. An instant adhesive from 3M set a Guinness World Record in 2012 for the strongest glue by lifting an 8.1 metric ton forklift in the air for one hour.

Customer Reviews
3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Rubber Toughened Instant Adhesive RT5000B is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Repaired my convertible top seams with this The seams on my convertible (2001 Corvette) were opening up. This was very obvious when standing near the doors and looking at the roof. When they make these tops after they sew the pieces together they fold the inside material over and glue it to the inside. I had clean out the old dried up adhesive first. Then I worked out a "deep throat" clamping solution. Once I had that conceptualized I masked off the surrounding areas and used an applicator stick to get the RT5000B in the seam fold gap. I then clamped the seam over the entire length of the repair and left it for 24 hours. This was over a year ago, and it is an excellent repair. I had also considered the 3M Marine 5200 (fast cure) product. But the black color of RT5000B, and other factors made me go in that direction. BTW - I keep the unused product in the refrigerator to extend shelf life. It has MANY, MANY other uses. We have also used it on leather, metal, and some plastics with very satisfactory results.
