- 1 minute work life provides fast application and repair times
- Ideal for conveyor belt repair and protection of belt fasteners
- Extreme flexibility for repair of rubber components
- Self-leveling for professional results
- Fast cure sealant
We developed 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Polyurethane Sealant DP5001 as a black, fast-setting, self-leveling, flexible sealant. Our two-component polyurethane has a 1 minute work life and sets rapidly for fast, easy and effective repairs where extreme flexibility is required.
1 Minute Work Life Provides Fast Application And Repair Times
- Repairing tears and worn spots in rubberized fabric belts
- Rubber repair
- Protection of belt fasteners to prevent wear of splices
- Repair of conveyor belts in mines
- Fast cure sealing applications
We designed 3M™ Scotch-Weld™ Polyurethane Sealant DP5001 to be fast-setting and reduce maintenance and downtime for repairs with its one minute work life. Tack-free time for a 10 g, 1/6" thick bead @ 77°F (25°C) is 15 minutes and the sealant will fully cure in 12 hours. Our tough 100% urethane product is abrasion resistant and remains flexible through a range of temperatures extremes, from 250°F (121°C) to as low as -60°F (-51°C). Our automatic one-step mixing and dispensing system decreases waste and produces a balanced, low-viscosity liquid in an easy-to-use, odorless paste for an effective, workplace-friendly solution
Understanding Urethane Adhesives
Two part urethane adhesives
(PDF, 1.36 Mb) cure chemically, rather than relying on moisture from the air. Because of this, they can cure quickly with no depth of cure issues in contrast to one-part urethane adhesive sealants. Urethane adhesives will bond most common materials such as wood, metals, rubbers, leather, tile and glass, many plastics, concrete and more.
The versatility of urethane adhesives is exhibited in the different formulations that have varying cured properties such as different levels of stiffness or flexibility, open time and cure speed, and hardness. They can cure to a relatively rigid or highly flexible state to meet a wide range of requirements. In either finished state, urethane adhesives will maintain bond strength integrity through variable environmental factors such as temperature, moisture and chemical exposure.
