During the public health emergency of the COVID-19 pandemic, these standard N95 “industrial” respirators may be used by healthcare professionals according to the U.S. FDA’s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA). 3M™ Particulate Respirator 8210 is not cleared by the U.S. FDA as a surgical mask, as a surgical mask and is not considered fluid resistant, therefore a face shield must be worn during use.

Weak Straps!
I have purchased 3m N95s before and I would normally rate them as 5. But I am disappointed in this recent version. The straps are made of inferior grade materials and break easily while putting them on. In the past, for light usage tasks, I had been able to reuse the mask multiple times. This mask was only worn a few times and a strap broke. I reattached it, and it instantly broke again.

Normal N95
I work in a factory where we do a lot of machining, polishing, and grinding. I've worn these masks or other 3M N95 masks for 8 hours a day, for a few years now. I can usually get a week out of them before the strap breaks, but that is more than enough time since they are pretty dirty by then. This is accomplished by stretching the straps before use.
The straps are tight for the first day, but stretch out as you wear it and it becomes more comfortable.
It seals tight around my face and is comfortable around my nose. The breathability is good and as the mask gets brown and dirty, the inside stays perfectly clean as it should.
Only downsides are they are a little tough, but not impossible, to wear with safety glasses and during the summer when its hot, it's a little uncomfortable- not unlike most masks. In the summer I prefer to wear the 8210V that features an exhalation valve for better cooling and exhaling. I also found the 9010 fold type mask allows for easier usage of glasses due to its design.
I rate all 3 masks 5 stars.

Not a quality product
Like others, I found the top strap snapped immediately when stretched. I also thought it might be counterfeit but the lot numbers checked out. I understand that one is supposed to pre-stretch the straps but it's easy to forget when trying to meet patient needs quickly in a clinic setting. Not the quality I expect from 3M.

very uncomfortable
This mask is so tight. Im not a big guy...6'3'' and 220 lbs. The straps usually break when putting over my head and once on tight around my head. Why not make larger sizes??? I work in healthcare and this is the only mask we are allowed to use.

Easy to breathe and talk. Fits very snug and if you pinch nose piece helps end fogged glasses. Elastic broke third wear.

poor straps
I bought these masks in Sept. The strap broke when I put it on. I checked the lot and products numbers on3M fraud site numbers were legitimate. When I placed the order I thought I was ordering the 8210 plus with the braided elastic straps. The distributor just told me that 3M is no longer making the N95 8210 plus masks is this true? I'm unable to add a photo.

watch for particles inside the mask
I bought a box of these masks several years ago, in consideration of smoke from California wildfires infiltrating the Bay Area. So that should put the purchase well before counterfeits were on the market.
The masks work fine as far as I can tell, for filtration purposes. There is a lot of humid air that wafts up and fogs my glasses even when they are properly fitted as far as I can tell; I don't know that I would disqualify the masks for use on that account, though. There is a strip of gray foam material on the inside top; I'm not exactly sure what the design purpose is. However, now when I wear the masks, that material crumbles during first use, and turns into black particles which you breathe in. Net effect, if you sneeze into a clean white tissue after wearing a fresh mask for an hour, you will eject a lot of such particles. That can't be good. I clean them out of the mask with some scotch tape for re-wearing, and it's fine. Perhaps I should be crushing and removing that gray foam before first wearing, to avoid this issue. Regardless, I think this is something that 3M should be looking into, as regards the safety of the mask itself.
