3M™ Matrix Resin 3892 is an enhanced, nano-silica loaded epoxy resin for tooling prepreg. This tooling resin features high hardness, low exotherm, low CTE and high durability. 3M™ Matrix Resin 3892 is available on glass or carbon based reinforcements and can be cured under vacuum or autoclave pressure at 140°F (60°C).

3M™ Matrix Resin 3892 contains a nano-silica loaded epoxy resin that can be cured under vacuum or autoclave pressure at 140°F (60°C) and freestanding post cured at 420°F (216°C) to attain a final onset Tg of 410°F (210°C). 3M™ Matrix Resin 3892 is available on glass or carbon based reinforcements and is single side coated to allow for low void consolidation in or out of the autoclave. This tooling resin features resistance to fracture, increased tool hardness, decreased z-axis CTE, vastly decreased exothermic potential, improved spring back and interlaminar shear strength, and increased thermal conductivity.

3M™ Matrix Resin 3892 increases both the fracture toughness and hardness of your carbon fiber composite tools, while lowering thermal expansion and almost eliminating exotherm as a design limitation. The result:

You can also meet your dimension specifications longer, or require less sacrificial material to machine back to your specified dimensions—saving you time and money. 3M™ Fortified Tooling Prepreg can be so flexible that it's possible to create tools directly from existing parts, eliminating the need for a new master. Because exotherm is virtually nonexistent, you don't have to worry about oven fires or tediously slow curing on designs that require thick tooling.
