Customer Reviews
3M™ Leather and Vinyl Repair Kit is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product, takes time Overall worked good! hardest part is matching your color, took me a couple tries. Use the iron on the drying process, that little piece of metal and stick will take you forever. Cover the whole grain piece in tape as well as the area you're working around. I used blue painters tape and works well. Just make sure you don't touch the iron directly to your leather/vinyl, keep the pointed end of the iron on the grain match piece. I've repaired mutliple areas now without issue - just takes time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Nope Followed directions - did not work. No grain transferred. Color did not dry/cure. Tears did not fill well. Waste of time and money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Product! Bad 3M, Bad Bought this last week at Advance Auto, would have made better use of my time and money by investing in lotto tickets or scratch offs! I've used 3m electrical tapes and sealers for decades in the yacht building industry so thought I'd give this a try...wrong! Y'all should stick with what you're good at! The gunk that results from the application of the adhesive? is not plyable enough to properly bond the seat material for even a temporary fix. To even call this a temporary fix kit would be an exaggerated statement beneath the fine reputation of the 3m company! Please stop selling this as a repair kit and just sell it as a kids playdough type of toy! If y'all are needing to hire an experienced QC guy, just gimme a holler! Thanks for all of the other products that I've used throughout the years, keep on doing what yer doing! Just ditch this stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I had a horseshoe shaped tear about the size of a nickel in the vinyl seat of my Harley. $500 to replace it so I bought this kit. I have read a lot of negative reviews. To that I would say READ THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY & USE SOME COMMON SENSE. The seat padding it adhered to the seat vinyl so I could not use the backing fabric. I used the adhesive and very carefully with a toothpick glued the horseshoe shade flap to the padding then waited 24 hours. I then used a toothpick to VERY CAREFULLY fill the cut line and a few holes/gaps. I made sure not to get any glue anywhere except the tear. I then waited another 24 hours. Color fill; As the instructions state I was VERY CAREFUL to fill only the torn area and not over fill it. I again used a toothpick for this. As is said in the instructions I heated the texture paper with the tool. I reheated the tool & texture paper 6 times. I then LET IT COOL DOWN COMPLETELY. I wish I would have taken before & after pictures. If you look VERY CLOSELY & CAREFULLY you can still see a very slight trace of where the tear used to be. I am amazed at how well this product worked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just need to apply heat The product works as advertised. Lots of negative reviews but before you turn away realize that the paint will not dry without heat. Instead of an iron I used a heat gun to heat the “iron” provided. Works so much better. Just apply the iron and heat it up constantly and iron out the patch. It will work if you realize the paint will not dry if you don’t have enough heat. First time using this and happy to stop the cracking in my seats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product I have used this on several items and have had no problems with it . The repaired areas have all become almost invisible. Not sure why some are saying this has no documentation.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Days later not dry I followed the instructions, finally tossed the stupid tool aside and put the iron directly on the patch (on the second day). It’s been three days now and still not dry. pathetic! Minus 5 star rating!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cannot believe that 3m is selling this product! I just spent 15.00 and four hours try to get this stuff to dry. I am not an idiot but this makes you doubt your sanity! Instructions Were followed to a t over and over again and still not cured. Never again 3m !
