For tough sanding jobs, 900DZ is designed to enable operators to do more work in less time. And this abrasive is designed to reduce time-costly operation.

Open coat construction means the abrasive grains are less densely placed on the backing, providing space to evacuate sawdust and other sanding debris. This helps avoid loading the cutting edge of the grains so the abrasive mineral is able to continue cutting even when sanding materials that would otherwise clog the grain, hindering sanding ability.

Dust and Swarf Neutralized
An anti-static treatment neutralizes the static charge generated by sanding, especially on wood. Electrically charged swarf tends to cling to the surface of the disc, the workpiece and the machinery when sanding. Coarse or fine or powdery, dust degrades performances and productivity. When used with an effective dust collection system, the anti-static properties help manage dust.

Hookit™ Attachment System
3M™ Hookit hook-and-loop feature makes disc attachment, removal, and re-attachment easy and facilitates use and re-use of the disc for the extent of the abrasive life. Hookit disc pads have J-shaped hooks of the type most commonly used in everyday hook-and-loop applications. Hookit disc pads grip the brushed nylon loop backings of 3M™ Hookit™ discs and provide a finer finish than do adhesive backed discs. The Hookit system is designed for work spaces where adhesive backed discs may become contaminated by dust, dirt, or flying debris.

Reduced Dust Sanding
Discs cut and last longer when dust isn't loading the cutting surface of the abrasives. 3M™ Clean Sanding technology clears out more dust, keeping it away from the work surface, the abrasive and the air. The spiral hole pattern gives dust an escape route. Dust settles into the loops of the disc or on the disc surface.

Optimized with a self-generated vacuum sanding tool fitted with a Clean Sanding disc pad and a Clean Sanding filter bag (sold separately), Clean Sanding products allow the vacuum to suction dust from the air and off of the workpiece. This reduces loading of the disc and adds life to the abrasive. Additionally, reducing dust in the air improves working conditions. You can also pair Clean Sanding abrasives with Clean Sanding disc pads for use on a central-vacuum-ready sander.

Our multi-hole disc design allows a vacuum accessory to draw dust away from the work surface and reduce air-borne dust. This new design doesn't require alignment of holes with the disc pad so switching the discs is fast, easy and convenient.
