Customer Reviews
3M™High Strength Large Hole Repair is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Back to patch plaster I was pleased working the material into a 3” plaster ceiling hole resulting from a light fixture replacement. A day later sanded the material and added a little vinyl sparkle for some minor spots. 12 hours later while finish sanding I noticed the fill seemed soft. Was easy to push my finger through the material and remove all of it by hand. Rather unbelievable. I’m a fan of 3m products. For me this one was a miserable failure.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Help. Can't seem to add a second layer I put a first layer on and let it completely dry. I need to add a second layer now and the product just falls off and won't grip well to the first layer. I can't find any directions on if I need to moisten the first layer again, or sand, or what. I was very happy with the way the product covered initially, but I cannot get a smooth cosmetic outcome without at least one more layer...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product 1 question tho I’m using this to close a gap between a plaster wall and a new drywall wall. I’m a renter so larger reno isn’t an option. This is working great. I need to add a second layer though and it’s not sticking well to the now totally dry first layer. Any hints? Should I spray it with water first? Or do I need to sand before going for a second layer?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from How long to dry? 18 minutes Since 3M won't say, here's how to apply 3M logic to answering the question: 3M's "Patch Plus Primer" is "3x Faster" and it takes 30 minutes to dry. So, 3M's standard reference for how long "other products" take to dry must be 90 minutes. 90/5 is 18 minutes. There. I said it. Mystery resolved.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dries 5X faster than what? Goes on pretty smoothly and can be sanded. The issue is the drying time. I realize the thickness matters, but an estimate for a 1/4 inch layer would be helpful.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worst Packaging ever Invented I like this product, but it is impossible to keep unused portions from drying out because of the dumb, dumb, dumb packaging. Lid never fit once it was opened. At this price point, could we please get a more suitable container????

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dry time? Easy to use so far. Now I am waiting for the compound to dry. No where on the packaging or website does it say for how long to let it dry before sanding and painting. Even a range would be good like “1-2 hours” or “overnight.” Just so I have a relative idea of how long before I can start the next step.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best spackle ever For those dings and holes that are just a bit too large for the usual compound, the 3M Wall Repair is fabulous. It does dry out fairly quickly, so get the smallest container for your job. This stuff saved me hours/days of having to go back and skim coat.
