3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE Compounds
Enhancing performance. Expanding horizons.

Standard and custom PTFE compounds for applications requiring low friction and durability in extreme environments.

3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE

  • Self-cleaning, weather-resistant stadium roofs. Self-lubricating bearings. Non-stick frying pans. 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE has become an indispensable material for an ever-widening array of applications – including automotive components, architectural membranes and, yes, cookware.

PTFE is a problem-solver. It helps architects push the boundaries of form and function. It helps keep vehicles on the road longer. And it helps protect equipment in extremely demanding operating conditions. Typical applications include seals, bearings, tubing, fibers, and coatings for woven fiberglass cloth. Dyneon PTFE can even be used as an additive to improve slip or wear characteristics in ink, plastics and lubricants.

    • Exceptional chemical resistance
    • Wide service temperature range
    • Low coefficient of friction
    • Low permeability
    • Long service life
    • Outstanding weather resistance

We offer a wide portfolio of dispersions, fine powders, granular products, micropowders, and custom compounds – giving you design and process flexibility. In addition, our technical experts can help you optimize Dyneon PTFE materials for your application and manufacturing process.

Industries and Applications

The unique properties of 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE have made it the material of choice in a broad range of industries.

  • 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE for Membrane Architecture

    Architecture & Construction

Dyneon PTFE offers outstanding resistance to wear, dirt, heat and flame. When applied to glass fabrics, Dyneon PTFE coatings also offer good light transmission and allow free-form design, even for large span widths. The resulting coated or impregnated fabric can be used for roofing, domes, tents or other architectural membranes that not only withstand rough weather, but are also virtually self-cleaning.

  • 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE for Automotive

    Automotive

With hotter engines, new combustion technologies and tighter fuel emission regulations, today's automotive components need to be able to take the heat. Designed to withstand both high temperatures from hot-running parts and very cold environmental temperatures, Dyneon PTFE is ideal for fuel systems, powertrains and other components requiring low friction and thermal and chemical resistance.
  • 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE for Chemical Processing

    Chemical Processing

The high chemical and thermal resistance of PTFE, in addition to its low coefficient of friction, make it an excellent material for corrosion resistant equipment in chemical processing plants. Dyneon PTFE can be used for seals, valves, pumps and other components, or to coat or line vessels and pipes.

  • 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE Coatings for Bakeware

    Coatings

Dyneon PTFE powders and dispersions can be formulated into many types of non-stick and corrosion-resistant coatings. In addition to sliding bearings and other industrial applications, PTFE-based coatings are well suited for small appliances and metal and ceramic bakeware, cookware and utensils – making it easier to cook the perfect fried egg every morning.
  • 3M™ Dyneon™ PTFE for Electrial

    Electrical & Electronic

Dyneon PTFE offers exceptional dielectric strength, low dielectric loss, thermal stability and flame resistance. This combination of properties makes it useful for a number of electronic and electrical applications from high-performance wire and cable insulation to gas diffusion layers for fuel cells.

  • 3M™ Dyneon™ TFM™ PTFE for Semiconductor

    Semiconductor

High purity Dyneon TFM PTFE has extremely low levels of anions and metal extractables, helping prevent contamination. It yields ultra-smoothed finished-part surfaces, allowing easy cleaning and rinsing as well as fast drying. Dyneon PTFE is used in the manufacture of chemical resistant etch basins and large wafer carriers.
