Product FAQs
The shelf life of Post-it® Labels can vary based on the environmental conditions where the labels are stored. Extreme conditions including, but not limited to, heat and humidity can decrease the shelf life of labels. Under ideal conditions, Post-it® Labels have a shelf life of two to three years.
Post-it® Labels should always be stored away from light sources and excessive hot or cold temperatures. These environmental conditions can reduce both the effectiveness of the adhesive and the color of borders or bars on the labels. In addition, Post-it® Labels should be stored in the package they are supplied in until you are ready to use them.
Post-it® Labels should only be used for the type of printer specified on the front of the package they are supplied in. Inkjet labels are made for inkjet printers, laser labels are made for laser printers and laser/inkjet labels can be used with either a laser or an inkjet printer. Post-it® Brand does not currently make a label for use with photocopiers.
Post-it® Brand only makes removable labels and self-adhesive name badges. For permanent label solutions, please visit 3M.com/labels to learn more about a wide variety of permanent labels under the 3M™ Brand.

Template FAQs
Post-it® Labels are compatible with popular label software packages and templates. Please see the front of your Post-it® Labels packaging for compatibility information.
To determine if there is a template available for your Post-it® Labels product, please refer to the label liner for the specific template to be used with your product. Templates can be downloaded from Post-it.com/labels by searching for the product and then downloading the associated template.
Once you have located the appropriate Post-it® Label Template, press the "Download Template" button. The download should start automatically, but some browsers may protect your security by blocking downloads and then asking you if you wish to proceed with the download. After the File Download dialog box appears, Post-it® Brand recommends you save the template to your computer for future use.
Upon downloading a Post-it® Label Template from Post-it.com/labels, open Microsoft® Word and select File > Open to navigate to the folder where you saved your template. You can then use your program’s formatting features to update the font type, font size and place images into your label template to create a customized label.
Many Post-it® Label templates are available in the 2010 version of Microsoft® Word and can be found in the Label Options dialog box under the Label Vendor 3M/Post-it®. Post-it® Labels were not configured to be present in earlier versions of Microsoft® Word (2007 and earlier). We expect future versions of Microsoft® Word to list all Post-it® Label templates.
Post-it® Brand currently does not support templates for software packages other than Microsoft® Word, but will be examining other software packages for future template releases.
Post-it® Brand currently does not support templates for A4 sizes, but will be examining A4 sizes for future template releases.
If the Post-it® Labels Template you are using appears as a blank page in Microsoft® Word, simply select Table > Show Gridlines from the menu options to view the template layout.

Printing FAQs
Post-it® Brand recommends only using Post-it® Labels with laser printers if the labels package or liner sheet state they are for use with laser or laser/inkjet printers.
Post-it® Brand recommends only using Post-it® Labels made of clear film with an inkjet printer if the labels package or the liner sheet state they are for use with inkjet printers.
Post-it® Brand does not recommend running a sheet of labels through a laser or inkjet printer more than once. The heat generated by printers and paper path configuration can cause labels to curl if passed through a printer multiple times. In addition, this can lead to the sheet jamming, labels peeling off inside the printer and may result in expensive repair costs.
There are many possible reasons why printer jams occur. However, one of the most common reasons for printer jamming when printing labels is an unclean printer. Paper jams near the exit of your printer may be due to unclean rollers at the exit tray. Post-it® Brand recommends that you keep the inside of your printer as clean and dust-free as possible for proper label printing. You should clean your printer every six months and every time you change your print cartridges. See the instruction manual for your printer for information about the proper way to clean your printer.
If you experience smearing on Post-it® Labels, the most common cause is too much ink has been dispensed to the label from your printer. If you are experiencing smearing of ink on your labels during printing, check your printer properties. One possible solution is to change the quality of your print jobs from "Best" to "Normal" quality.
One of the most common reasons for labels not loading into a printer is due to a loss of density on the printer roller rubber or unclean rollers. Post-it® Brand recommends cleaning the rollers first and replacing your rollers if cleaning does not produce the desired results. See the instruction manual for your printer for information about the proper way to clean your printer.
Each Post-it® Label sheet has an arrow indicating "Feed Paper." This arrow indicates the feed direction in which you should feed your label sheets into your printer. Please refer to the instruction manual for your printer to determine whether you need to feed your label sheets into your printer face up or face down.

NOTE: Some printers reverse the feed direction based on whether you use the auto-feed tray or manual-feed tray on your printer. Please print a test sheet if you believe your printer may reverse the direction based on the feed mechanism used.
