3M™ Bumpon™ Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Products protect complex circuits with simplicity.

Manufacturers can save 50% or more by replacing mechanical nylon spacers with 3M's new PCB spacer technology.

With computer manufacturers requiring cost-effective protection for today's sophisticated circuitry, 3M now offers pressure-sensitive adhesive-backed polyurethane feet for use as printed circuit board spacers. Bumpon™ PCB Spacer 6700 Series Products from 3M deliver critical barriers that help keep sensitive components free of damaging heat build-up, short-circuiting, vibration, and board flexing.

These pressure-sensitive adhesive-backed products can be easily applied during final assembly of an electronic device saving the labor and material costs of adding mechanical spacers to a PCB. They also allow more flexibility in design since they can be added during final assembly rather than during the initial design and manufacturing process of the PCB.

The high-performance, synthetic rubber R25 adhesive offers excellent initial and ultimate adhesion to a wide variety of surfaces including plastics, FR4, and various metal surfaces.

Surveys and tests show 3M's new quiet, clear bumpers offer the best sound damping, high-tack adhesion, and universal color matching.

3M introduces a new series of Bumpon™ Protective Products that feature a soft, clear polyurethane for better sound damping and a strong R-25 synthetic rubber adhesive for quick initial adhesion — two important attributes, according to cabinet manufacturers.

In fact, in a 3M recent survey, 125 cabinet manufacturers said the single most important product characteristic is fast and permanent adhesion to the surface, followed by good sound damping performance. High-tack R-25, quick-stick synthetic rubber adhesive offers excellent initial and permanent adhesion for bonding to a wide variety of surfaces, including low-surface-energy substrates such as powder-coated paints and melamine finishes often used in cabinetry. The pressure-sensitive adhesive is protected with a release liner, making application fast and easy. With the new 3M™ Bumpon™ SJ-6500 Series Quiet Clear products, there's no sliding or falling off as with felt bumpers.

The durable polyurethane doesn't dry out or crack like rubber, so Bumpon SJ-6500 Series Quiet Clear products stay stuck for years. The new 3M Bumpon Quiet Clear products resist aging and yellowing. And because they're transparent, they offer universal color matching for use on many different types and colors of cabinets.

The Bumpon SJ-6500 Quiet Clear series offers superior long-term noise reduction and better shock absorption than other products on the market, so there's no slamming, scratching and nicking of cabinet doors.

In sound tests conducted by 3M in an anechoic chamber, results show that the new 3M™ Bumpon™ SJ-6506 and SJ-6561 Quiet Clear products offer four times more sound damping than the original 3M™ Bumpon™ SJ-5312, making them the quietest cabinet bumpers.

3M Bumpon SJ-6500 Series Quiet Clear products are available in four sizes and shapes including hemispherical, cylindrical, the unique, patented hexagonal cone and the patent-pending hexagonal hemisphere. The hexagonal cone shape of 3M™ Bumpon™ SJ-6553 is so inconspicuous, it's practically invisible.

Whether the application involves kitchen and bath cabinet doors and doorstops or cushions or spacers on electronic equipment, 3M™ Bumpon™ SJ-6500 Series quiet clear products offer simple, ingenious solutions.

Celebrating 40 years of innovation and excellence: 3M™ Bumpon™ Protective Products milestones.

1964 - Creation of the 3M Bumpon Protective Products line, with the introduction of the 3M Drum Pad, which offered a unique, vibration-damping solution to the problem of liquid leakage from 55-gallon metal drums during transit. These were the first urethane, pressure-sensitive bumper products in the world.

1966 - 3M expands its Bumpon product offering to seven products with the addition of the SJ-5000 Series.

1977 - 3M introduces the Bumpon Rollstock product line (SJ-5800 Series), allowing fabricators to die-cut custom parts. These were the world's first pressure-sensitive urethane sheetstock materials.

1979 - 3M SJ-5900 Series urethane foam Bumpon Rollstock products are developed.

1984 - 3M introduces the SJ-5300 Series clear molded Bumpon products, ideal for many applications in the furniture, cabinet, and point-of-purchase display industries.

1990 - The 3M "Design-A-Bump" program allows manufacturers to design self-adhering feet, stops, spacers, cushions and other molded parts to match their unique design requirements.

1995 - Introduction of 3M Bumpon Protective Products SJ-5201 and SJ-5202 — hexagonal die-cut Bumpon products featuring low compression-set "soft" polyurethane foam for excellent sound-damping performance.

1995 - 3M introduces "true white" molded products (SJ-5400) with a non-yellowing performance ideal for the cabinet industry.

1995 - 3M develops the SJ-5600 Series Bumpon Protective Products — a clear rollstock with unmatched transparency and resistance to marring and staining.

1996 - 3M SJ-6100 Series Bumpon Protective Products are introduced with "Top Hat" design and high-performance adhesive; they forever change lingering perceptions that pressure-sensitive adhesive bumpers are not as strong as mechanical bumpers.

1996 - 3M SJ-6200 Series Resilient Rollstock Products are introduced with high-performance adhesive.

1998 - Development of the 3M Bumpon Easy Slide Protective Products (SJ-6344) — a revolutionary new product featuring a low coefficient of friction and excellent load-bearing capacity.

2000 - 3M Bumpon Quiet Clear Products developed to offer even greater sound-damping performance.
