Dispersive Signal Technology featured on larger displaysMethuen, Mass. - October 5, 2004 -- 3M Touch Systems, Inc. displays 30" and 40" touch screens integrated on Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD's) enabling game maufacturers to design games for larger displays and for casino managers to implement touch for guest services applications. Dispersive Signal Technology is featured on 40" displays for the fist time at the Global Gaming Exposition in Las Vegas and is expected to be available in 2005.

"Large LCD panels are becoming more and more popular as demand has steadily increased, and prices continue to come down. Casino managers can now utilize large panel displays by implementing touch applictions as casino directories or interactive advertising for events taking place throughout the casino," said Dan Savage, business manager for touch screens. "More creative, multi-player gaming applications are possible with large displays deployed as table games, bar top games, or even giant slot machines."

Dispersive Signal Technology featured on larger displaysDispersive Signal Technology offers a fundamentally different approach to touch. Unlike other solutions that recognize touch by the interruption of electrical fields, acoustic waves, or infrared light, Dispersive Signal Technology recognizes touch through vibrations made to the substrate. By measuring specific vibrational energy, it eliminates issues with screen contaminants and surface scratches, while offering enhanced palm rejection - allowing accurate touch recognition while an object rests on the screen. The MicroTouch DST substrate can be glass, tempered glass, glass integrated with 3M's Vikuiti™ films, or even acrylic - all of which offer excellent optical qualities.

"Dispersive Signal Technology distinctly offers new ways to implement touch while offering great optics, touch input flexibility, and the durability expected by casino operators," said Doug Kuller, program manager, 3M Touch Systems.
