Nextel™ Thermal Barriers
Standard and custom-fabricated parts of 3M™ Nextel™ Thermal Barriers produced from Nextel™ ceramic textiles and other materials significantly reduce the heat transfer from the engine, exhaust and track surface into the driver's compartment.
Track tests measuring the floorboard temperature inside the driver's compartment have found the temperature to exceed 160°F (71°C) when no insulation was used. At this temperature, the driver's heel may burn and remain irritated for the rest of the racing season. Installing Nextel™ Thermal Barriers can reduce the driver's compartment temperature by 70°F (39°C) or more.
