How Streetwise are YOU?

Can I do anything to make my journey even safer?

Even if you always use the Green Cross Code, you can still be even safer on the streets by making sure you can be seen by drivers and knowing the safest route to take!

1.

Wear high visibility clothing
High visibility vests

Be seen by drivers!
Wearing clothing that's easy to see (high visibility clothing) ensures drivers can see you even in dark and bad weather conditions.

These vests have special strips that light up when light is shone on them. These strips are called retro-reflective strips because the light bounces off them back in the direction it came from. This means that light from headlamps bounces off the stripes towards the driver behind the headlamps so that drivers can see you clearly. If you don't have any clothing like this, be seen by wearing white or pale colours at night and bright colours during the day!
