Transport Canada Requirements for Conspicuity Markings on Stock Trailers
FOR ALL NEW TRAILERS 10,000 lbs. GVW AND 80" WIDE OR WIDER*
MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS:
- Markings can be white or yellow, or alternating red/white, or alternating yellow/white at a minimum 2" high.
- Each colour length should be no less than 6" and no greater than 18".
- All red/white material must have a DOT certification mark to verify compliance with Canadian and American regulations.

Side of Trailer |
- Place red/white, yellow/white, yellow, white material 15" to 60" above the road or as close as practicable.
- Can be placed on or above rail to avoid rivets.
- Can be broken segments, but must be evenly distributed to cover at least 50% of the sides.

Rear of Trailer |
- Place red/white, yellow/white, yellow, white material across full width of door or bumper 15" to 60" above the road or as close as practicable.
- Place two 2" x 12" white strips configured as an inverted "L" in each upper rear corner.
- Place 2" or 1-1/2" wide red/white material across the full width of the horizontal underride bar.

Overall |
- White material must be at least 3" from all required lights.
- Red material must be 3" from required amber lights.
