Lung Protection

An active individual can breathe in 100 liters of air every minute. This act should not endanger a person's health but it can when the environment is contaminated and the individual is not protected. For a farmer, this threat is very real, especially if the air includes dust, pollen, chaff, molds, and silo or manure gas.

Usually a worker's first reaction to irritants is coughing or choking which is the body's attempt to stop the pollutants from going any further. The harm occurs when these defense mechanisms don't do the job and small particles and vapours enter the body and damage the respiratory system, brain of other organs. At 3M Canada we want to help prevent this potentially irreversible damage from occurring. When used properly, our comfortable, NIOSH approved respirators trap hazardous contaminants in filters and/or cartridges before they can enter your body.

To find out about the respiratory risks involved in farming, and how to protect yourself with a properly selected, fitted and maintained respirator, take a look through this portion of our site.
