The Canadian Standards Association released a standard in March of 1997 detailing Lighting and
Marking of Agricultural Field Equipment on Highways (M669-97). This standard was adopted without
modification from the American standard by the same name. It is this standard that was used to
provide the placement recommendations seen in Manitoba's "Be Seen, Be Safe!" book and detailed by
3M Canada, the Canadian Coalition for Agricultural Safety and Rural Health and the Canadian
Federation of Agriculture in their "Be Seen, Be Safe!" campaigns and materials. For details of the
requirements outlined by this standard please see the Ensure Proper Placement segment of this site.
