Modular Splicing System Makes Quick and Easy Connections
London.A fully
shielded 600 AMP modular splicing system is now available
from the 3M Electrical Products Division. The modular system
is simple to expand and is flexible, allowing for easy disconnects
and additions.
Rated for 5, 8, 15 and 25 kV shielded cables,
the 3M brand 5815 Series Modular Splicing Kit gives you
a 600 AMP separable insulated connector system designed
for use with tape shield, wire shield, UniShield®
and jacketed concentric neutral cable types. Using one
or more of the kits you can make 2-way, 3-way, 4-way or
dead-end splices, or you can connect cable to your gear's
600 AMP bushing with an equipment connection kit.
With 3M modular technology, critical splices
in the field install quickly and every splice maintains
the insulating and shielding integrity of the original
cable. The system installs easily on standard shielded
power cables and is compatible with copper and aluminum
conductors. All connecting components are reusable per
ANSI/IEEE standard 386.
The adapter kit includes all components
necessary for adapting the separable connector to specific
cable sizes and shielding types for common industrial
power cables. The kit's modular design allows custom tailoring
for various splicing functions and configurations, such
as multiple taps, sectionalizing, dead ending and add-ons.
The molded conductive outer jacket provides a fully shielded
dead front connection that meets IEEE standard 592.
