The New Scotch® Pop-up Magic Tape Strip Dispenser Offers Big Gains In Productivity

London.Breakthroughs in technology and design have resulted in faster, more portable laptop computers, electronic organizers and a host of other hi-tech products that help companies and employees become more productive. But in the digital age, it's easy to forget that products without batteries or microchips can still enhance workplace productivity in creative and unexpected ways.

With this in mind, 3M, the makers of Scotch® tape and Post-it® Notes introduced a revolutionary weighted base dispenser in 1997, featuring Scotch crystal-clear tape. Known as the Scotch Pop-up Tape Strip Dispenser, this innovative product holds nearly a dozen patents and received the prestigious Industrial Design Excellence Award later that year. The dispenser is truly unique because it delivers pre-cut, 2-inch strips of tape right to the fingertips. As each strip is removed, the next pops up automatically, much like a facial tissue.

With this "pop-up" technology, users can grasp, remove and apply the right amount of tape with one hand, resulting in less waste and hassle, as well as increased speed. In fact, according to a recent study by the REFA Institute in Germany, Scotch Pop-up Tape Strips from 3M enable users to complete taping applications up to 54 percent faster when compared with conventional roll dispensers.

New for 1999, the weighted base Scotch Pop-up Tape Strip Dispenser now comes with pre-cut, 2-inch strips of Scotch Magic Tape. An office favourite, Scotch Magic Tape has a matte finish that disappears on paper and allows users to write on it with pen, pencil, or even marker. And for added portability, the new dispenser also features an elastic handband on the cartridge that can be easily removed from the weighted base. This means that busy professionals can use the weighted base dispenser to seal envelopes at the desk, and then slip on the handband attachment to post memos around the office without having to carry the dispenser.
