L-Series Positive Pressure Headgear Offers Versatile, Lightweight, Comfortable Protection

London - 3M's new L-Series headgear offers customers a wide variety of lightweight, well-balanced and comfortable positive pressure respiratory protection.

The L-Series line is available in three versions: bumpcaps, hardhats and helmets. Each line offers several lens configurations for general purpose use, welding or a combination of both.

The bumpcap version provides limited head protection from minor bumps of floating debris. The hardhat version meets ANSI Type I and II hardhat standards. Both come with a wide view lens option, offering excellent peripheral and downward vision for applications such as grinding, chipping, pharmaceutical production or other dusty conditions. Both also are available with a welding shield and optional autodarkening lens. For greater versatility, both lenses can be used together for grinding and welding applications. The bumpcap and hardhat versions of the L-Series headgear are loose-fitting systems for use up to 25 times the Exposure Limit.

The helmet version meets CAN/CSA 294.1-92, Class G, ANSI Type I and II hardhat standards, providing side impact protection. It comes with a wide view lens option and a welding shield with a wide view lens combination option. This version can be used up to 1000 times the Exposure Limit.

All three headgear are compatible with 3M's GVP-Series belt-mounted powered air purifying system, which is available with a full range of cartridges and filters for different applications. They are also compatible with 3M's supplied air systems, which allow workers to regulate the airflow as well as cool or heat the air entering the headgear by as much as 50 degrees (F) - ideal for extreme-temperature environments. The L-Series delivers air to the back of the headgear so it flows across the wearer's face, helping him/her to be cool and comfortable.

Applications for the new headgear include welding, chipping, cutting, grinding, sanding, painting and smelting. Common industries include foundry/steel, chemical, pharmaceutical, utilities, hazardous materials, agriculture, transportation, shipbuilding, military, and government uses.
