3M Offers Two, New, Improved Destructible Vinyl Label Materials for Better Processing

London, Ontario….They've done it. 3M engineers have created a revolutionary destructible label material that is ideal for many hard-to-bond-to surfaces, such as low-surface-energy plastics. With its great strength, this destructible vinyl label material can withstand high-speed presses and can be used with a variety of die configurations, too.

These new 3M 7613 and 7930 Destructible Vinyl Label Materials overcome challenges faced when processing destructible vinyl materials for tamper indication applications. Fragile vinyls can be difficult to process, problematic to overprint and subject to high material waste in the converting process. 3M 7613 (roll) and 7930 (sheet) Destructible Vinyl Label Materials help solve these problems with an improved reliable fragile vinyl film that offers broad printing capabilities, including thermal transfer.

The vinyl surface of 3M 7613 and 7930 Destructible Vinyl Label Material has less shrinkage than typical vinyls, reducing adhesive build-up on press rollers. In addition, the smooth surface of the facestock material has fewer surface aberrations that allow for more even ink coverage, consistent printability and bar code readability. The reduced imperfections in printed areas can also mean less material waste and fewer interruptions in the converting process. Finally, these two new products from 3M feature a more consistent caliper facestock that allows for improved die cutting.

The products are available on a two mil fragile vinyl film backed with 3M's 350 Premium Performance acrylic adhesive for use on virtually any surface, including many low-and high-surface-energy plastics and powder-coated materials. The label materials also are engineered for excellent durability under a variety of adverse conditions and extended outdoor exposure.

This combination of broad printing capabilities, processing efficiency and optimal destructibility makes 3M 7613 and 7930 Destructible Vinyl Label Materials ideal for use in a wide variety of tamper-resistant applications. Application ideas include warranty seals, safety warning labels, package seals, calibration seals, licensing tags and asset labels for use in the electronics, appliance, transportation, lawn and garden equipment and small power tools categories.

3M offers a complete line of vinyl films and specialty adhesives for a wide range of applications in the appliance, chemical, printing, electronics, industrial medical, pharmaceutical, photographic, plastics and transportation markets.
