Introduces New Anti-Fatigue Floor Mats
London, Ontario
.More
than 40 million Americans are employed in manufacturing, industrial
and retail industries, according to the Bureau of Labour Statistics.
While the careers are varied, encompassing everything from
factory workers to printers to cashiers, most of the jobs
are similar in at lease one respect: the workers are required
to stand in one place for long periods of time.
As harmless as it may seem, standing on a hard
floor for extended lengths of time can cause compression and
overworked muscles at the base of the spine. These problems
are further compounded by back and leg discomfort and other
forms of fatigue associated with these types of jobs. Unfortunately,
these "little discomforts" can escalate into larger problems
that may result in billions of dollars in lost productivity,
increased insurance rates, workers' compensation claims and
absenteeism.
Today, many organizations are reducing the problems
of fatigue by providing their employees with anti-fatigue
mats on which to stand. In fact, according to recent study
(Center of Ergonomics, University of Michigan, Redfern study),
anti-fatigue mats can reduce fatigue and discomfort by as
much as 50 percent.
3M, a leader in ergonomic and safety products,
is introducing two, new, innovative anti-fatigue mats: Safety-Walk
Medium Profile Cushion Mat and Safety-Walk Low Profile Cushion
Mat, both from 3M.
The unique Z-web construction of the Safety-Walk
Cushion Mat:
- provides even support and slip resistance
- creates a supportive cushion to reduce worker
discomfort
- allows for superior traction to keep the
mat in place and workers sure-footed
- allows water and small debris to pass through,
keeping dirt out of the way and speeding up evaporation
"The power of innovation stands behind every
3M product, and the Safety-Walk Cushion Mat is no exception,"
said Scott Mitchell, Manager, Commercial Care Markets of 3M.
"The mat's construction is designed to enhance workers' safety
and comfort, and thereby increase their productivity."
