Volition
brand Kits from 3M Make Fiber to Desktop Installation and
Cleaning Faster, Simpler and Less Expensive
London, Ontario….Two
new kits from 3M make it simple to install Volition brand
duplex fiber optic interconnects in less than two minutes,
and clean them in seconds.
The Volition brand Socket Termination Kit, for
use with Volition brand VF-45 brand connectors, includes all
of the tools needed for socket installation in a small pouch
which fits on a technician's belt. The kit includes an all-in-one
termination station which cleaves the fiber and inserts it
into a v-groove in the connector, polishing the fiber automatically
with a polishing puck integrated into the tool.
Newly trained technicians using the kit can
complete installations in less than two minutes, rather than
the 10-15 minutes required for conventional ferruled connectors.
The termination kit works with the simple "snap together"
design of the Volition socket which requires no adhesives
or manual alignment of parts.
The tool kit includes cable jacket stripper,
snips, buffer tube stripper and dual fiber stripper. The polishing
puck assembly, scribe blade assembly and foam polishing pad
are all combined into termination fixture. Lapping film, fiber
view scope with adapter base, cotton swabs, lint-free wipes
and an alcohol bottle are also included.
The Volition brand Maintenance Cleaning Kit
eliminates the need for removal of wall plates, contact with
solvents, or disassembly of connectors. The cleaning process
takes only 20 seconds using 3M HFE-Based Cleaning Fluid which
is inert, non-flammable and non-conductive.
The system includes a spray bottle fitted with
fixtures designed to allow separate insertion into the fiber
plug and the socket to spray clean the fiber end faces in
one quick squirt. Even in tight spaces, the velocity of the
cleaning fluid washes the particles or contaminants of the
fibers and out of the device to maintain the optical performance
of the Volition System.

Cleaning Kits are part of the Volition brand Cabling System
