3M
Introduces 1.0mm BGA/LGA Lidded Sockets
London, Ontario
.3M
now offers test and burn-in customers a smaller sized, finer
pitched option with the introduction of the Textool 1.0mm
socket for ball grid array and land grid array packages.
The lidded socket's modular design enables easy
adaptation to body size, thickness, matrix, pin count and
pin pattern and offers low tooling cost for new package sizes,
whether JEDEC/EIA standard or customized. A retractable locating
guide permits simple board mounting, even with hundreds of
leads. The proven clam shell construction allows for manual
or automated operation.
The Textool BGA socket contact features a low
normal force, double contact points and controlled ball deformation
away from the seating plan. The LGA socket contact features
low normal force, double contact points and also works with
LGA's having raised or recessed pads.
The sockets can withstand temperatures of -55°C
to 150°C and actuations of up to 10,000 at room temperature.
The Type I socket handles packaging up to 23
X 23Mm body size and 21 x 21 matrix. Type II is for packages
up to 40 X 40mm and 39 x 39matrix. Type III for even larger
packages will be available later in 1998.
Textool sockets are backed by 3M's award-winning
innovation, including custom design services and fast and
reliable customer service.
