Optically Clear Laminating Adhesives Deliver "Crystal Clear"
Transparency for Applications Requiring an Optically Clear
Bond

the best stuff you never see. 3M Optically Clear Laminating
Adhesives from 3M Bonding Systems Division are pressure-sensitive,
highly specialized, free-film adhesives offering excellent
clarity and adhesion capabilities for use in touch screens,
graphic overlays, optical management films and other applications
requiring an optically clear bond.
"3M Optically Clear Laminating Adhesives deliver
the highest degree of visual accuracy possible," explained
Bob Budreau, market manager, 3M Bonding Systems Division.
"We've carefully engineered this highly specialized product
so that it's virtually defect-free, with no noticeable visual
flaws. In fact, we manufacture the adhesive under clean room
specifications in order to eliminate common adhesive particles
such as bubbles, dirt and gels that can cause annoying visual
defects in optical laminations. We've even taken the extra
step of using plastic cores instead of paper to further minimize
potential contaminants during the laminating process."
3M Optically Clear Laminating Adhesives are
able to withstand high temperature, humidity and UV light
resistance for long-term durable applications. And, unlike
lesser quality adhesives, they withstand the test of time
without delaminating, yellowing, or degrading. In addition,
these adhesives have excellent flow properties that help conceal
minor visual scratches in film laminates to help improve production
yields.
The free-film isotropic adhesive construction
has no film carrier, eliminating birefringence. 3M Optically
Clear Laminating Adhesives are available in 1 mil and 2 mil
thicknesses. The 1 mil version is designed for smooth substrates
or where packaging constraints limit adhesive thickness. The
2 mil version is better suited for graphic overlays and textured
surfaces or where adhesive flowability is important. Both
adhesives are available in master roll sizes of 24 inch x
69 yards and 24 inch x 180 yards.
