3M Introduces Lightweight Stethoscope
with Improved Performance
London, ON — May 2004 — Owning a general purpose,
entry-level stethoscope shouldn’t entail a compromise in quality;
however, “quality” is often cost-prohibitive. The 3M™
Littmann™ stethoscope line now includes a lightweight stethoscope
with a level of performance previously unavailable at its price level.
The 3M™ Littmann™ Lightweight II S.E. stethoscope features an
improved design that effectively addresses wearer comfort, while providing
reliable acoustics for basic blood pressure and physical assessment. The
intention is to enhance the medical practitioner’s ability to do
routine assessments by means of functional and ergonomic modifications to
the standard two-sided stethoscope.
“Users of general-purpose stethoscopes told us they were looking for
a stethoscope that offered improved acoustics and ergonomics, and new

The unique bell/diaphragm chestpiece design on the 3M Littmann Lightweight
II S.E. stethoscope allows for better orientation around blood-pressure
cuffs and body contours, and provides clear, reliable acoustic
performance.
The anatomically correct headset is angled for user comfort and better
acoustics. In addition, the patented 3M Littmann Snap Tight Soft-Sealing
Eartips provide a comfortable fit and more secure seal to reduce ambient
noise and improve acoustics.
The tunable diaphragm conveniently alternates between low- and
high-frequency without the need to turn over the chestpiece.
Single-lumen, latex-free tubing is available in a variety of colors,
including three new colours: Ceil Blue, Lilac and Seafoam Green.
The 3M™ Littmann™ Lightweight II S.E. stethoscope carries a
two-year warranty.
