The 3M Electrical Products Division
has added a unique new product to its aerosol line. The 3M
Smoke Detector Tester is a safe and convenient method to test
both commercial and industrial detectors using a smokeless
aerosol spray.
When sprayed towards the vents for 2-3 seconds, the clear
3M aerosol vapour will set off an alarm sound if the detector,
including the sensing unit, is in proper working condition.
The absence of a sound indicates there could be a problem.
In keeping with safety standards, all commercial and industrial
facilities must perform regular tests on their smoke detectors.
The 3M Smoke Detector Tester is CFC free and does not
emit any dangerous vapours, making it a safe and effective
solution for regular testing. Not only is it fast acting -
but if sprayed correctly (at least 2 ft away) it will not
leave any damaging residue on the smoke detector.
The 3M Smoke Detector Tester was developed for use
with photoelectric and ionization type detectors, such as
those found in many industrial settings, including schools,
hospitals, restaurants, hotels and residential homes.
