3M Introduces New Scotchlite Products
London, ON - 3M provides new reflective films for
both the short and long term, designed to meet the evolving
needs of the marketplace and complement 3M's offerings of
opaque films. 3M Scotchlite Changeable Graphic
Film 5100 and 5100 (ES) are durable, flexible, retroreflective
films intended for making changeable, removable exterior graphics,
which are particularly suited for short-term bus graphics
and commercial vehicle or fleet graphics.
"Short-term promotional advertising continues to grow
as a market segment," said Lynn Daly, marketing supervisor,
3M Commercial Graphics Division. "The 5100 series will
add impact and impressions, extending the advertising benefits
of the graphics even after the sun goes down."
Also being introduced is 3M Scotchlite Removable
Graphic Film with Comply Performance 680CR, a removable,
retroreflective film designed for commercial vehicles and
railroad graphics, as well as commercial signs and striping.
By utilizing the revolutionary Comply performance technology,
this film is easily applied, saving time and minimizing the
effects of out-gassing.
"With Comply technology being extended to our premium
products, it is no wonder that we are adding this feature
to this new product," added Daly. "More now than
ever, long term graphics require fast-on, fast-off properties.
This newest addition allows for product consolidation and
promises to be the premium product for faster application
and clean removal."
Both films have a similar daytime and nighttime appearance
and retain 90 percent of retroreflectivity even when totally
wet. Suitable for image transfer or ink jet and screen printing,
3M Scotchlite Changeable Graphic Films 5100 and
5100 (ES) feature a changeable adhesive that permits ease
of removal within 18 months without the use of heat or accessories,
and leaves little or no adhesive residue. 3M Scotchlite
Removable Graphic Film with Comply Performance 680CR
is easily removed with heat for up to seven full years, leaving
minimal or no adhesive residue. This film can be applied to
flat, riveted, moderately curved and corrugated surfaces,
as well as stainless steel substrates.
When these new films are used in combination with 3M toners,
transfer media and overlaminates, and produced by one of 3M's
Scotchprint® Graphics Authorized Manufacturers, the finished
graphics carry the Scotchprint® Graphics brand and qualify
for the 3M MCS Warranty.
