Materials and radiation Heat radiation is very much like light.

Shiny surfaces, like stainless steel, are the best at reflecting radiation. Dull black materials are best at absorbing (taking in)
and emitting (giving out) heat radiation.

In hot countries buildings are often painted white to reflect the heat. Scientists have
developed a special white paint to
reflect even more heat. The paint
contains reflective tiny glass
spheres that are the right size
to reflect heat radiation.
