1. Large glass, south-facing windows

The building has been designed to collect the most amount of heat from the sun by having very large windows on the south side of the building. In the northern hemisphere, the sun comes from the south so these large windows make maximum use of passive solar heating – that means they are good at using natural sunlight to warm the inside of the building without using another form of energy. In the southern hemisphere (e.g. New Zealand), the sun comes from the north so the big windows would face north.
