Where in the world does your food come from?

Food in your local supermarket comes from countries all over the world. Northern European countries do not have the right climate to grow some foods (e.g. bananas, coffee, mangoes) and so these need to be imported from other countries, if we want to buy them. When foods are out of season, they are often imported from other countries.

Food miles measure the distance food travels from the farm
(where it grew) to the plate (where it's eaten). Food miles is
a measurement used to show how far food travels before
it gets to be eaten.
