Why is global warming an issue?

Global warming is causing these two major effects:

1. Sea levels are rising

  • Glaciers and ice-sheets at the North Pole and South Pole are melting
  • Melted ice and warmer temperatures are causing sea level to rise (0.25m in the
    last 100 years)
  • Flooding of low-lying areas is increasingly becoming a problem and if sea levels continue to rise many coastal towns and cities will be underwater.
