As a safe alternative to heat-shrinkage, the new cable joints are particularly user-friendly for fitting and can be installed without the need for chemicals, a power supply or special tools.
The new mechanical cable joint system has been specially developed for the requirements of the copper cable market. With the appropriate adaptations, however, the new cable joints are also excellently suited to use with fibre optic cables.
The FRIEDL cable joint is already being used by the Austrian telecoms company, Österreichische Post und Telekom AG, and has also been greeted with lively interest by the local telecoms companies in other European countries.

3M Austria's telecoms team is now selling the system of mechanical coupling and branch joints for copper and fibre optic cables developed by the Lower Austrian company Friedl. The features of the new system are faster installation, reusability and the resulting cost reduction
