The new 3M 961 UZ high-performance abrasive belt is lilac and it lives at least twice as long as conventional abrasive bands. What this means for users in the woodworking industry is faster, better, cheaper and environmentally safer abrasive-belt processes - from solid wood to fine grade finishing. Equally high surface removal rates when working all kinds of wood add another couple of plus points in its favour.
Two leading-edge 3M technologies are behind the new paper abrasive belt. The ceramic Cubitron Regal abrasive grain provides considerable additional performance when grinding solid and veneer wood. The widely-spaced scattering of the grain on F paper backing prevents the band from clogging prematurely.
Thanks to 3M’s Xodust technology, when the new high-performance abrasive belts are used the grinding dust is physically removed by a graphite layer. This makes it easier to extract the dust cleanly and reduces dust contamination of the workplace.
