Ordering Process

Electronic ordering speeds up the product ordering process and eliminates costly paper-handling procedures. 3M's electronic order options include Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), eXtensible Markup Language (XML), and Web-based ordering systems.

•   Order Entry - Place orders electronically to eliminate handling on both sides.
•   Order Acknowledgement - Receive an automatic purchase order acknowledgement in direct response to an electronic order. Depending on your needs, the response can include estimated shipping dates, pricing discrepancies, and other order-related information.
•   Order Status - Obtain real-time status information including carrier tracking via 3M's Web-based system.
•   Product Availability - Check product availability on the Web for many of 3M's businesses.

Shipment Information

Timely access to shipment information enables you to manage your receiving and warehouse resources more efficiently. Electronic ship notice/manifests provide a detailed description of the actual shipment before your order reaches your dock. This information can also be sent via fax if preferred, or viewed using 3M's Web-based system.

Invoice/Remittance

3M supports a variety of electronic options for communicating invoice and remittance information, including electronic funds transfer (EFT).
