    3M™ Polyester Tape 8402 is a green 1.9 mil (0.05 mm) polyester film tape with green pigmented silicone adhesive for composite bonding and splicing of many silicone coated papers and films. The tape is chemical and thermal resistant, making it well-suited for use in splicing or masking.

    3M™ Polyester Tape 8402, is ideal for masking in high temperature applications and adheres well to silicone coated surfaces. The green color and silicone adhesive make for easier identification and application when splicing silicone treated paper.

    Application ideas:

    • Masking edges of overlap seams in metal bonding process where the excess epoxy (flash) flows on the tape
    • Protective tape reduces scratches during handling prior to bonding operations
    • Holding of parts or vacuum bags during bonding operation
    • Maskant for metal in acid or caustic chemical milling baths
    • Paint mask for areas subject to higher temperature bake cycles
    • Splicing of silicone liners and papers
    • Splicing of films subject to high temperatures

    This tape functions well as a masking tape or in splicing operations, such as splicing of silicone liners and papers and films subject to high temperatures. Regardless of the application, cleanup is simple; just remove the tape and the cleanup is complete. This clean removing, high strength tape helps save time and keeps operations running smoothly.

    Clean Application and Removal
